Formatting a Paperback for the Indie Author

With the recent switch over from Createspace to KDP print, I’ve seen a lot of turmoil and confusion about formatting for print. Hopefully, I can address all of your concerns with this article. Just like Formatting an eBook, there are technical and customer expectations that your finished work must meet or it will not be printed correctly. It does not matter how great your novel is if there are editing marks left over in the final product or if the border isn’t sized correctly or if your title page is on the “back side” of the first page because your word processor added a mysterious blank page.

I often see posts on Facebook and Twitter lamenting Amazon’s KDP or other sites when self-published authors attempt to upload their book for the first time and struggle to make a professional looking product. There are certain customer expectations and technical guidelines that one must follow if they wish to appear professional. You’ve done the hardest work, writing the book, now allow me to start this 2/maybe 3 part series on Formatting an Ebook that will upload to any online store, giving you the chance to reach new customers and not scare them away with an ugly looking book. As they say, people do judge books primarily on their cover, and secondly after they open the novel and peak inside.

Among The Clouds – Available Now

I am very happy to announce that today is May 1, 2018, which coincides with the official release of Among The Clouds, my newest full-length novel. I wrote the first draft of this story back in November 2017 as part of NANOWRIMO, and from there it grew and over the past few months, I’ve molded it into something I am really proud of and hope it provides a great experience.

The King’s Challenge – Relaunch

Today is April Fools, normally a time for tomfoolery and whatnot, but here on this corner of the internet, we are super serious and hopeful about the release of the new edition of The King’s Challenge. The 2nd edition of The King’s Challenge contains new art, updated formatting, and an overall cleaner package that is a better representation of the story I wrote and the experience I wish to present to readers.
